A man working on a construction site at Heathrow's Terminal 5 has died in an accident.
Reports say 45-year-old Kevin Dawson, thought to be from Kenley, Croydon, died in a lift shaft when the counter weight fell on him.
He was an employee of lift contractor Schindler and was pronounced dead at the scene by the emergency services.
No one else was hurt in the accident on Saturday, October 27, around 11am.
Schindler is now investigating the accident along with the Health and Safety Executive and BAA, which owns and operates the airport.
Andrew Wolstenholme, BAA Project Director said: "I am deeply saddened by this tragic accident and my thoughts and condolences go out to the deceased's family and friends. We're doing everything we can to support them.
"We now have to wait for the investigation to understand exactly what happened to cause this accident.
"This accident demonstrates, even with the highest safety standards in place, the risks we're exposed to in the construction industry.
"We have extremely high safety standards at Terminal 5 and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that safe working is ingrained in everything we do."
