A Morden mum has claimed that a bad burger is the reason she ended up in hospital with a bout of diarrhoea.

Chloe Purvor decided to order a takeaway from the Wimbledon branch of Burger King on the night of October 6.

She said it took an hour and 10 minutes for the Deliveroo order for her family to turn up and it was "cold" when it arrived.

She didn't think too much of it though and they decided to dig in.

"It didn't taste right but I thought it was because I had a cold the week before," she said.

But on Sunday morning she woke up in incredible pain.

"My stomach was so bad I couldn’t lift up my one-year-old," she said.

"I got hit with this diarrhoea that wouldn't stop."

She then went to hospital on Monday where she was put onto a drip. Mrs Purvor was eventually discharged but her husband had to take two days off work to care for her and the kids.

"So we've had two days loss of earning because he had to look after our young children because I felt so weak I had to stay in bed," she added.

"To be honest I want an apology from Burger King."

When asked why she believes it was Burger King that caused the illness, she said she was the only person to eat the double bacon cheeseburger and that was the likely culprit.

A spokesman for Burger King said: “Food safety and quality are top priorities at Burger King restaurants globally.

"All products in Burger King restaurants are prepared following stringent specifications and we have overlapping controls in place to help ensure that those specifications are followed.

"Our high-quality beef patties are made using 100 percent beef and are never served rare."

Wimbledon KFC that was overrun with RATS reopens after deep clean of restaurant The particular store in Wimbledon where Mrs Purvor ordered from has come under scrutiny in the past.

In July this year, a forfeiture notice was posted on The Broadway shop and the takeaway was subsequently closed for a period of time. Prior to that, in November of last year the store was forced to close after an infestation of rats was discovered.

The Burger King spokesman added: "Where there is any suspicion a customer has been ill after eating at one of our restaurants, we instruct an international food safety consultancy to carry out an independent investigation into the case to ascertain if there is any cause for concern.

"If this customer wishes to give us further details of the her visit we will happily arrange for this process to take place and equally, would be more than happy for the local environmental health department to visit the restaurant to the same effect."
