Police have named the man charged following a sexual assault in Wandle Park.

Officers launched an investigation following an allegation of rape after the incident took place in the park shortly before 4am on August 11.

The victim – a woman – was taken to a south London hospital and was supported by specialist officers.

Khaled Argoub, 20, of no fixed abode, has since been charged with one count of attempted rape and one count of assault by penetration.

He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 26 and was remanded in custody.

A trial has been scheduled for February 2020 at Kingston Crown Court.

Police also advised that they are not linking this to a rape that happened in Mitcham on October 5.
