Elderly residents are invited to join Richmond Library’s ‘Silver Sunday’ event where they will learn about the history of London’s famous river.

The free event – which starts at 11:00am, is to be hosted by guest speaker Nick Dobson, who will explore the historical significance of the River Thames and at 11:30am guests will be also be able to join a special illustrated talk about the Rivers literary links.

Cllr John Coombs, Lead Member for Libraries and Culture, said: “Silver Sunday is a day for the nation’s senior residents to be valued and celebrated.

“It also raises awareness of loneliness and social isolation, connecting those affected with services and people around them.

“Richmond’s event is a chance to meet new people and learn something new. We hope to see lots of people there this Sunday.”

The free event will be at the Richmond Annexe on Quadrant Road in Richmond
