A pensioner has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in New Malden this afternoon.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 3.20pm to reports of a car having crashed into a pedestrian in the High Street.

A spokeswoman for the Met said: "The male pedestrian, aged in his 70s, has been taken to a south London hospital for treatment.

"His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The road remains partially closed to traffic."
