Police have revealed why they were called to the High Street in Colliers Wood on Sunday afternoon.
Residents spotted officers "rushing" into the Co-op opposite Marlborough Road at about 4pm.
Responding to a request from the Wimbledon Times, a spokeswoman for the Met said: Police were called at 3.46pm on Sunday, September 29 to reports of a man injured in High Street, Colliers Wood.
"Officers attended and found a man suffering facial injuries.
"The man declined assistance and left the scene."
