Croydon's commuters could have been forgiven for thinking they had stepped back in time on Saturday - when a steam train rolled into East Croydon station.
The 'Tangmere' locomotive pulled up just before 9.30am and offered passengers the chance to tour some of southern England's forgotten railway lines in style.
The Railway Touring Company, who specialise in steam train trips, began the tour from London Victoria before it stopped at East Croydon to pick up extra passengers. It then carried on to Uckfield, before coming back and passing through West Croydon on its way to the mid-Sussex route to Horsham and Littlehampton.
Another similar trip from East Croydon to Portsmouth harbour is due to take place on November 17. For more information visit railwaytouring.co.uk or call 01553 661500
