Metropolitan Police 3 Croydon Athletic 2

David Stevens, the Metropolitan Police centre-forward, snatched a deserved victory for his side in the final minute.

He ran on to a throughball and headed the ball over the advancing keeper into the goal.

The visitors had dominated the first half.

Frankie Warren crossed to Moses Ademola on 18 minutes and he volleyed in the opening goal.

Danny Waldren then hit the Police crossbar with a header from a corner.

The Police came out in the second half looking by far the livelier of the two sides and it was their turn to control the game.

On 66 minutes Martyn Lee scored direct from a corner for the equaliser.

A minute later and another Lee corner was kicked over the goal line by Stevens to put the Police 2-1 up.

With just five minutes remaining with what was the visitors first attack in the second half, a cross from the right wing was controlled by striker Reggie Savage who turned and drove home from 15 yards.

The ball went in off both posts for the equaliser.

A draw seemed inevitable but Stevens made it a happy afternoon for the Blues supporters to snatch that winner.
