Students packed into New Wimbledon Theatre last week as winners of the Young Writers Competition were announced.

The competition was organised by Wimbledon Bookfest and attracted hundreds of entries from schools across Merton and neighbouring boroughs (51 Merton Schools - primary and secondary - took part in the competition).

The theme of the competition was ‘The Island’ in honour of the 300 year anniversary of Robinson Crusoe and the panel of judges include authors, professional writers, teachers and booksellers.
