Sutton station was ground to a halt yesterday after reports of a trespasser on the line.
Officers were called to the busy station just after 1pm yesterday afternoon (September 17).
All power was cut from the lines as officers swarmed
British Transport Police has now released more details.
A spokesman from BTP said: "This was a mental health incident.
"Officers were called to Sutton station at 1.16pm yesterday following concern for the welfare of man on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to a place of safety."
