Millwall were dumped out of the Carabao Cup on penalties by Oxford as they surrendered a two goal lead with three minutes of normal time remaining.

The Lions were 2-0 up with goals from Jon Dadi Bodvarsson either side of the break before a Mark Sykes strike and a James Henry penaty in the dying moments forced a shootout.

Oxford went on to claim victory with four successful penalties, while Millwall missed one and had one smartly saved by Simon Eastwood.

Lions Ahead

Bodvarsson, Millwall's summer signing from Reading, ran through when Tom Elliott flicked on Luke Steele's long ball after 29 minutes and slotted past Eastwood.

He again showed good finishing with a deft glancing header from Jason McCarthy's right-wing cross seven minutes into the second half.

Bodvarsson went close to claiming a hat-trick as the Lions cleverly opened the Oxford's defence only to see his shot hit the outside of the post.

On 87 minutes Sykes pulled one back for the home side with a neat low effot from the edge of the box.

And - when substitute Ben Woodburn was fouled in stoppage time by McCartny - Henry tucked away the resulting penalty.
