A man was arrested after reportedly smashing up the interior of a Sainsbury's in Croydon on Wednesday (August 21).
Officers from the Met Police rushed to attend the scene at the Sainbury's Local store on London Road in Croydon this afternoon.
A smashed window and crowd of onlookers greeted them and passersby outside the busy Croydon shop.
Responding to a request from the Guardian, a spokesperson for the Met Police confirmed that a suspect had been arrested following the incident.
"Police were called at approximately 15:35hrs on Wednesday, 21 August to reports of a man causing a disturbance in the vicinity of Sainsbury's in London Road, Croydon.
"It was reported a number of items had been damaged inside the shop," the Met said.
"Officers attended and a man — no further details — was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage; he remains in custody at a south London police station.
"Enquiries continue," the spokesperson added.
