A teenager was assaulted and had his bag and phone stolen on Cambridge Road in Walton on Monday night (August 12).

Surrey Police issued an information appeal after the violent incident that they said happened between 10 and 10.30pm earlier this week.

"At some point between 10pm and 10:30pm a 19 year-old man was approached by a man he did not know on Terrace Road close to Waterside Drive.

"The victim reported that the man subsequently assaulted him on Cambridge Road and stole his phone, cash, and a bag with the word ‘smile’ written on it.

"The 19 year-old man was not seriously hurt," a spokesperson for Surrey Police said.

Police offered a description of the suspect they are looking for — a white male in his thirties:

"(The victim) described the man that approached him as:

  • White.
  • Aged in his thirties.
  • Around 5ft 6ins tall.
  • He had tanned skin and was skinny.
  • He had short black hair.
  • He had short greying stubble.
  • He was wearing a dark coloured jacket which had an elasticated waist and cuffed sleeves, a t-shirt, and jeans."
