Instagram users have ranked Richmond Park as one of the best places to have picnics and to take selfies.

Data analysed by Towergate – a caravan insurance company, also revealed that people who visited Richmond Park chose strawberries as the number one snack to eat, followed by sandwiches and salads.

Claire Gardner, Towergate’s Retail and Lifestyle Advisor said: “Richmond Park is the ideal spot for picnics as it transports you away from the hustle and bustle of central London.

“The quaint leafy woodland, along with roaming wildlife make the park one of the most unique in London.

“King Henry's Mound is an ideal alfresco location, too, as it boasts breath-taking views across the city.”

Greenwich Park generated the most picnic posts, with over 2,166 people showing off their picnic pics on the social media app.

Despite Richmond being voted as the second-best park to picnic in - its 2,600 posts, successfully beat tourist destination Hyde Park.

Using the #picnic hashtag on Instagram (IG), Towergate caravan insurers discovered that Richmond Park came up as one of the most Instagrammed picnic spots in London.

Other top picnic and selfie spots included Primrose Hill and Victoria Park.
