Residents in West Molesey have been forced to evacuate their homes following a gas leak this afternoon.
Surrey police were called at 3.30pm to reports of the leak in Island Farm Road.
A spokesman for the police said: "The road is currently cordoned off between Down Street and Approach Road for the public's safety and a small number of properties have been evacuated.
"Officers have arrested a man on suspicion of committing arson with intent to endanger life."
