Severe delays and cancellations are expected until 11am due to a person being hit by a train between Haywards Heath and Brighton.
Major disruption will affect services between London Victoria and Brighton, London Victoria and Littlehampton, as well as the Thameslink service from Cambridge to Bedford and Brighton, and the Gatwick Express.
All lines are reopening but delays are still expected to be up to forty minutes as all services resume.
Passengers are advised to check before travelling or alternatively use other routes such as TFL Buses, Tramlink or the London Underground where all tickets will be accepted.
Passengers affected by the delays can claim money back.
