A new 31-storey building will be coming to Croydon town centre.

Across from the Leon House development 357 new homes will be built in three blocks.

One will be 31-storeys, the second 20-storeys and the smallest at six-storeys.

The development will be made up of 156 one-bedroom flats, 176 two-bedroom flats, 24 three-bedroom flats and a single four-bedroom flat.

Of the 357 flats, 98 will be affordable – 65% of which will be shared ownership and 35% at affordable rent.

The plans from FI Real Estate Management were given the green light by Croydon Council last week.

The three new blocks will form the Leon Quarter. Former office block Leon House has already been redeveloped into homes.

Flats in Leon House are already on sale with a one-bedroom flat offered at £300,000.

The latest development is described as ‘car free’ with just 22 spaces for disabled people, but there is secure parking for 734 bicycles.

As well as the 271,896 sq. ft of residential space there will be space on the ground floor for shops and restaurants.

A spokesman for the developers said: “Leon Quarter will build on the successful regeneration of the adjacent Leon House to create a distinctive new residential area, boasting high quality public realm as well as shops and restaurants.

“We’ve experienced great success with Leon House, proving there is the appetite for owner occupiers to set down roots and invest in the borough.”

The plans were unanimously approved by the council’s planning committee on Thursday, July 18.
