The big police presence in Downham earlier resulted in a drug possession arrest, the met has confirmed.
A dozen police cars reportedly pounced on Bromley Road in Downham this afternoon prompting speculation on social media.
Some people suggested there was an attempted armed burglary while others reported an argument.
A police spokesman told News Shopper: "We have arrested someone for possession of drugs."
We asked police for more information such as a gender, age and why officers were called, but we were informed those details were not yet available.
"Half the met was down there," one man, who drove by Bromley Road, said. "It's a bit strange if it was just for a drug possession arrest."
He said he spotted up to 12 police cars there at around 2.30pm.
