A Bromley gym has text its members to say facilities are out of bounds until further notice because of water problems in the area.

Virgin Active Bromley, on Bath’s Road, hope to be back open tomorrow but issues with water are ongoing.

Thames Water say the problem is "complicated" and a solution is taking time.

A worker at Virgin Active Bromley told News Shopper: "I’m afraid we have had to close.

"We have absolutely no running water so for health and safety reasons we have had to shut – probably until the end of the day.

"Fingers crossed we are back open tomorrow."

All members will be informed of updates via text message.

The gym apologised for the inconvenience, but one member told News Shopper being unable to workout wasn’t the problem.

"My main concern is going without seeing my gym crush," she joked.

There is a bottled water station at the Tesco superstore in Homesdale Road for those in need.

The burst water pipe is beside two high voltage cables and a gas main, which has also occurred damage which needs to be repaired.

A Thames Water spokesman said: "We’re sorry to customers affected by a burst to a 12-inch diameter water pipe and any motorists whose journeys have been interrupted.

"Our engineers were quickly on site and have been working through the night to fix the problem but due to its complicated nature this is taking longer than expected.

"We have set up a bottled water station in the area and will also be hand-delivering water to customers on our priority services register."
