Police are hunting the culprits after a 14-year-old boy was assaulted for his phone in Epsom last month.

One June 11, the teenager targeted in the attack was walking walking along a footpath between Stones Road and Blenheim Road in Epsom, near the Screwfix store, when he was approached by two unknown teens.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police described what reportedly happened next.

"One of the teenagers is alleged to have snatched a phone from the victim, and when asked to give it back, has punched the 14 year old in the head.

"The phone was dropped and the two teenagers left the scene," the spokesperson said.

The police also offered descriptions of the two older teenagers — both "approximately 17 years of age" — they are looking to speak to in relation to the incident.

The first teenager was described as white, around 5’ 9” tall, of a slim build, with short blonde or light brown hair, wearing a grey tracksuit and carrying a black bag.

The second was described as white, around 5’ 9” tall, of a medium build, with dark hair, wearing a bright blue t-shirt and light coloured jogging bottoms.

This pair were later seen on CCTV in the area, accompanied by a third teenager.

"This was an opportunist robbery and we believe the two teenagers in blue and grey captured in CCTV images might be able to help with our enquiries," Investigating officer, PC Marc Taylor, from the Epsom and Ewell Neighbourhood Patrol Team, said.

"I’d like to take this opportunity to remind residents to be vigilant and pay attention to your surroundings when walking, keeping valuables out of sight," he added.
