Residents are invited to join Richmond Borough in celebrating the ‘swinging 60’s’ at its special event on Friday.
The ‘Reminiscence Café’ talk will be held on July 19 at the Twickenham Library where people will be encouraged to talk about an iconic era that changed the UK.
People will be entertained by stories and memories surrounding ‘The Mods and Rockers’, Eel Pie Island ravers and clubbers as well as infamous scandals that made the 1960’s.
Cllr John Coombs, Council Spokesman for Arts and Culture said: “Richmond has a rich and varied musical heritage, which spans over 60 years.
“By 1963 the Rolling Stones had established a residency at the backroom of The Station Hotel, which used to be opposite Richmond Railway Station.
The Richmond in the 60s event is from 11am-12pm at Twickenham Library where tea, coffee and cake will also be available.
Cllr Coombs added: “There is certainly a lot of history to celebrate and this free event is a perfect opportunity for us to share our stories.”
To book your slot at the free event, visit the library, or call 020 8734 3340.
