Carshalton residents are have the chance to celebrate local independent businesses through a competition launched by their MP.
Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, is inviting the public to vote for their favourite community trader.
The competition will run until the end of August, offering six categories for businesses to compete in - Best shop, Best cafe, Best restaurant/take-away, Best hairdresser/barber, Best newcomer and Best pub.
Carshalton & Wallington MP Tom Brake said: “We have some great independent businesses in our area and I want to do all I can to support them. This competition is a brilliant way to promote some of the local gems of a business who often struggle against the big chains.
“Carshalton & Wallington has always had a strong sense of community, so I’m sure many residents will be getting involved and supporting their favourite businesses.
“Anyone who votes will also be entered into a draw to win £50 to spend at their chosen business. Voting is really easy. You can either fill in one of the voting slips at participating businesses or head over to www.tombrake.co.uk/vote.”
Tom launched the competition by visiting businesses around Wrythe Green, including The Ginger Italian Restaurant, Wrythe Green Fishbar, Bombay Tandoori Restaurant and Bar, Scotts Butchers, Carshalton Barbershop and Moo & Bean Cafe.
