Employees from a care home in Twickenham celebrated their annual summer party by surprising the residents with a real-life nostalgic hero.

Colin Thackery – winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2019, visited the unsuspecting residents at Brinsworth House, in Staines Road, on July 6 and entertained them with songs of the past.

The care home is run by the Royal Variety Charity, which received 15 pence everytime a vote is phoned in by the public during the tv-talent show's voting stages.

Giles Cooper, Chairman of Brinsworth House said: "The Royal Variety Charity's annual summer party, held at our care home Brinsworth House in Twickenham, was a great success.

“Our residents, all former performers or people who have worked in the entertainment industry were thrilled to see Colin Thackery - the winner of this year's Britain's Got Talent, perform on our own stage along with all those other artistes who gave up their time to support our charity.

"They all made it a truly memorable party."
