Sutton's own symphony orchestra will perform a programme full of popular film music later this month.

All Saints Church Carshalton is hosting a programme of well known favourites on June 29, paying particular tribute to famed composer John Williams, who won five Oscars over his 60 year career.

The orchestra will explore his catalogue, which features Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, E.T, Star Wars and Harry Potter.

Frances Burton, chair of the orchestra, said: "For Sutton Symphony Orchestra this is a departure from our usual concert format of overture, concerto plus symphony.

"But what's not to like? Arguably John Williams' scores can toy with the emotions as much as any classical repertoire."

They will also throw in a James Bond suite and Pirates of the Caribbean for good measure.

Sutton Symphony Orchestra rehearses on a Tuesday evening, providing an opportunity for local musicians to perform ambitious works.

The event starts at 7.30pm. Under 18s go free.

SSO performs 3 concerts per year. If you are interested in joining, visit:
