Those looking to pass the dreaded driving test may wish to stay away from Belvedere, latest figures have suggested.

According to data collated by insurance broker Marmalade from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, only 31 per cent of learner drivers who take their practical test at the Belvedere centre actually passed, down 2 per cent on the year previous.

The Bexley-based centre topped the list this year as the hardest centre to pass your test after falling second to Erith last year which only passed 31 per cent of its applicants as well.

Those looking to take the test at this centre would be wise to avoid doing it in December, as statistics showed that this is the unluckiest month with pass rates dropping to 29 per cent.

The average pass rate for test centres across Great Britain was 54 per cent, with the highest pass rate being Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, in the Scottish Highlands, where 73 per cent of new drivers successfully received their licences.

Scottish test centres claimed over half of the spots for the easiest places to pass, with Rothesay, Pitlochry, Ballater, Lerwick, Lochgilphead and Orkney also making the top ten.

Speaking on the figures, CEO at Marmalade, Crispin Moger said: "We know that driving tests can bring about nerves.

"In fact, more than 50 per cent of young motorists are equally or more anxious about facing their driving test than their academic exams.

"We wanted to provide a handy tool to help young learner drivers, and their parents, find out more about their chosen test centre and its pass rates.

"Ultimately aiming to give them a little piece of mind when it comes to booking a test, and show them how many motorists pass at this centre, in the month of their test."
