Legendary showbiz hounds will be honoured on the world's first permanent Dog Walk of Fame in Battersea Park.

The first six dogs to be inaugurated will be selected by the public from a shortlist created by film and dog experts.

The 15 dog shortlist spans 70 years of movie making, from Toto in the Wizard of Oz to Lassie, Bullseye from Oliver Twist and Chance and Shadow from Homeward Bound.

Sky Movies and the Kennel Club are behind the development.

Each dog will be commemorated with its own plaque and the instalment will be marked by a dog-themed season of films on Sky Movies on November 10 and 11.

The panel of judges includes Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies, Sarah Wright, Editor of Your Dog, James Christopher, Film Critic from The Times and Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary.

The results will be announced in Battersea Park on November 5.
