The Big Bang Near Me science festival is returning to Sutton this July to deliver school and family focused events in the heart of the Town Centre.

The festival week. developed by Engineering UK and STEM Learning, begins on Monday, July 8, and residents will be able to attend a different STEM themed activity every evening located at one of the many venues on the High Street and in Manor Park.

Patricia Park, Business Improvement District Manager for Successful Sutton said: “We are so thrilled to be able to work with partners to bring this event back to residents.

"With a focus on Careers this year, we want to show that working in a STEM industry is not out of reach to anyone who wants to get involved.

"Looking forward to meeting some of our future Engineers, Scientists and even Astronauts throughout the day”

On Friday, July 12, all borough schools are invited to attend Sutton Grammar School for their Big Bang in Schools event, showcasing over 30 exhibitors within school premises.

The final day of Celebration of Science will be on Saturday 13th July when there will be additional activities including a return visit from Johnny Ball, Meccano, Brick Built Warriorbots, Stix Machine, Immersive Experiences Planetarium, Medical Mavericks and Drone Racing.

They will all feature on the '4 zone science trail' which starts at Asda and winds its way up Sutton High Street to St Nicholas Shopping Centre, Manor Park and Sutton Library- where a visiting exhibit from Rotterdam will test particpants' engineering skills.
