Two homeless men have been treated for burns after they were set alight in central Croydon.

Police are investigating two incidents reported in the George Street and Surrey Street area in the early hours on Monday, June 10.

Detectives believe others may have been targeted and are appealing for any further victims or witnesses to come forward.

Potentially multiple suspects are believed to have intentionally set the men's sleeping bags alight while they were inside, along with other property.

The victims suffered minor burns, which were treated by the London Ambulance Service.

A 22-year-old man and 17-year-old girl were stopped by police at 5am on Wednesday on George Street and arrested.

The man was later charged, and is due to appear in court on Thursday June 13, while the 17-yea-old was bailed until a date in July pending further enquiries.
