A restaurant outbuilding was completely destroyed by fire in Croydon yesterday.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a restaurant with flats above on Limpsfield Road at 2.45pm.

A single storey outbuilding at the rear of the property and some wooden decking were destroyed by the fire, which was brough under control by 3.30pm. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 20 calls to the fire, with crews from Purley, Addington, Mitcham, Woodside and Biggin Hill fire stations attending.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
