A man has been left fighting for his life after being stabbed in Mitcham.

Police were called to Lammas Avenue at midday today to reports of two men fighting.

Weapons were seen during the incident, which left one man with a leg and arm injury.

He has been taken to hospital where his condition is being treated as life threatening.

There have been no arrests made at this stage and a police cordon remains in place while initial investigations are carried out.

A section 60 is in place in Mitcham following the stabbing.

This allows a police officer to stop and search a person without suspicion.

The section 60 is in place for Figges Marsh, Lavender Fields, Longthornton, Pollards Hill, Graveney and Cricket Green.
