NETFLIX has been filming in Bolton for yet another upcoming series.

In recent weeks, filming has started in the town centre on brand new thriller The Stranger.

Another upcoming production has now chosen Bolton as one of their filming locations.

Football drama The English Game has been written by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes - who is also executive producer.

According to Netflix, “The six-part drama charts the origins of football" and explores "how those involved in its creation reached across the class divide to establish the game as the world's most popular sport.”

It stars an array of British talent including Kingsman actor Edward Holcroft and Craig Parkinson, from Line of Duty.

It also features Kevin Guthrie (Dunkirk), Charlotte Hope (The Spanish Princess), James Harkness (The Victim), Niamh Walsh (Jamestown), Gerard Kearns (The Mark of Cain), Joncie Elmore (Downton Abbey), Sam Keeley (Anthropoid), Daniel Ings (The Crown), Kate Dickie (Red Road), Henry Lloyd Hughes (Killing Eve), Kate Phillips (Peaky Blinders), Ben Batt (Captain America: The First Avenger), Sylvestra Le Touzel (Happy-Go-Lucky), Harry Michell (Chubby Funny) and Anthony Andrews (The King’s Speech).

The series is directed by Birgitte Stærmose (The Spanish Princess, Darling ) and Tim Fywell (Happy Valley, Grantchester ) and produced by Rhonda Smith (Fresh Meat, Traitors).

Along with Julian Fellowes, Rory Aitken, Eleanor Moran, Ben Pugh, and Eddie Charlton are executive producers. Ben Vanstone is a co-executive producer.

The series is scheduled to launch on Netflix in 2020.
