GoodGym in Kingston celebrated their first anniversary this week (May 14).

GoodGym operate running groups in boroughs throughout the UK, including in Kingston.

They aim to combine getting fit and staying healthy through jogging and physical exercise with doing good deeds in communities.

Speaking to the Surrey Comet following the Kingston group's birthday celebrations, Kingston GoodGym's trainer Mark described the group's work in the community so far.

"The more physical that the good deed can be the better for us because it fits in with our ethos of getting fit while doing good.

"We've worked Morden Parks, Manor Park, Queen's Promenade, Citizen Zoo...there's a whole range of people and groups we work with. In December we ran over to Kingston Foodbank in Tolworth and helped them organize things into date order and chip in generally.

"Last time, celebrating our birthday, we ran to the garden project and helped out Citizen Zoo. Next up we're running to Southwood Centre in Surbiton to help out with the Scout group there," Mark said.
