A new B&Q concept store is launching in Wallington next week – the first of its kind in the UK.

GoodHome by B&Q will be officially launch on May 23, in Stafford Road, promising to offer a “simpler way of shopping” for home improvement projects.

The store, which will be staffed by 16 employees, has a core range of 6,000 products that will be available for same-day delivery.

There is also an extended range of more than 20,000 products for larger projects, which are available for next-day click and collect – either in-store or for home delivery.

One of the GoodHome by B&Q store’s features includes a paint mixing counter, where customers can create their own shades of colours on site or picking up pre-mixed ones as well.

Another feature is its key cutting service, while brands in store include Bosch, DeWalt, Mapei, Stanley and Thistle.

B&Q says its own research shows that 66 per cent of people in Wallington, and the surrounding area, planned to start a home improvement project within the next six months.

And a further 47 per cent of home improvers within at same area felt they “needed more help and advice to realise their projects”.

The first 50 GoodHome customers will receive gift cards worth up to £100, as doors opening at 7am on May 23.

Alongside an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with local dignitaries, there will be live music and a free goody bag with purchases while stocks last.

Alasdair Handley, store coach at GoodHome by B&Q, said: “We’re really excited to see the reaction to our new concept store.

“The way people shop has changed and the new store has been designed to make it simpler for our customers to create a home they feel good about.

“We hope having expertise and support on their doorstep, and an effortless shopping experience, will make it easier for more people to take on those projects around the home they might have been putting off.

“We look forward to welcoming the people of Wallington to their new local home improvement store.”
