A fault with the signalling system at Waterloo station is causing peak hour delays this evening.
Network Rail, who own and maintain the railway infrastructure, have advised that South Western Railway trains may be delayed by up to 35 minutes, cancelled or revised.
"As congestion can quickly build up around London Waterloo, service alterations will be necessary to manage these delays," a post on the National Rail site read.
"The delays are expected to affect trains between London Waterloo and Epsom/Guildford/Chessington South.
"Some trains between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids will also be amended to not run between London Waterloo and Basingstoke. Customers will be required to change trains at Basingstoke."
The delays are expected to last until at least 7pm tonight.
