Sutton Community Farm is encouraging people from all over to visit them for their Spring Open Day.

The farm will be open to individuals and families on May 18, with the day including hourly tours, opportunities to complete hands-on work and how to get involved through volunteering.

There will also be a selection of cakes and soft drinks available to be purchased, as well as a chance to find out more about their VegBox scheme.

While the event is free to attend you must book a ticket in advance, with tickets being available to book on Eventbrite.

Sutton Community Farm is a seven-acre farm which produced more than 250 varieties of vegetables and salad.

These are then directly sold to more than 250 customers across south London and Surrey every week via their VegBox scheme.

Organisers say: “The farm’s purpose is to increase access to fresh, healthy, sustainable food and provide a shared space for people to cultivate skills, get exercise and make new friends.

“Over 40 volunteers per week visit the farm to help with growing vegetables and packing VegBoxes and to meet new people and learn new skills.

“The farm also hosts educational visits; over 400 school children have visited in the last year to learn about vegetables, organic food growing and healthy diets.

“The farm is a community benefit society, with over 400 members from the local community who support the farm and have a voice in how it is run.”

The Spring Open Day will be on from 11.30am to 3.30pm on May 18.
