Waterworks Yard
Five engines and more than 30 firefighters tackled a blaze in the basement of a block of flats in central Croydon yesterday.
The Brigade was called at 8.21am to a block of flats on Waterworks Yard in Waterworks Yard, near Surrey street.
Twenty people evacuated the building before the arrival of fire services. There were no reported injuries.
Fire crews from Croydon, Woodside and Norbury fire stations brought the fire under control at 9.16am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
