It has been a busy first year for the Colliers Wood Community Orchestra, but one that has proved worth the time and effort.
The group celebrated its first year of music-making in style with an open rehearsal and drinks reception and even managed to recruit a few fresh faces in the process.
An instrumental collective for the community in Colliers Wood – the orchestra is made up of musicians from beginners to those more advanced.
A spokesman for the group described just how important the music is.
"We were formed to cater to the lapsed musician - someone with an unplayed cello or bassoon in the loft," her said.
"Not strictly a symphony orchestra - our repertoire is a mixture of popular classical and contemporary pieces and there’s always room for another player at our weekly rehearsals."
