A woman intent on seeing something positive in the News Shopper has praised the launderette she has been using for the past decade.

Yvonne Koleosho, 50, said the Beckenham Launderette on Croydon Road was "like heaven" and was "more than just a laundrette".

She believes it "so amazing" that it should be celebrated in the local press.

"You’ve got all this Brexit crap," Yvonne laughed. "There is no positive news, darling. You are not going to hear glowing things because negative stories are what sells."

She added: "News Shopper is not as bad as the other rags, who are more guilty. You have a good mixture of good and bad.

"It is time to shout about something good."

News Shopper:

What makes the launderette so special?

Yvonne compared it to an old-school pub where people look out for each other.

"They are social services and psychology rolled into one. I’m prepared to put my neck on the block to say my launderette is the best."

Yvonne, who has lived in Beckenham over 30 years, said it is not even the launderette closest to her home.

She described the staff as kind and honest who know everybody's names.

"They will carry your bags and check on you," Yvonne said. "You have time on the couch and have chats. It’s great.

"The workers have different nationalities and are exceptionally helpful and people have been coming here for up to 25 years.

"It’s not just a launderette it’s a social hub."

Yvonne concluded that she loved spending time at the launderette and said if it was a GSCE it would get a triple A star.
