Ewell Post Office is closing temporarily due to major building works, it was announced today (April 18).
In a statement released Thursday afternoon, the Post Office said that a landlord was undertaking building work in flats above the Post Office, premises on Ewell High Street.
As such a temporary closure beginning will occur from 7pm on May 22 , and is expected to last through to August 2 at 1pm.
The Post Office said: "Ewell Post Office will be temporarily closed for approximately three months due to major building work.
"The landlord who owns the premises is building flats above the Post Office.
"For health and safety reasons the Postmaster, who rents the premises, will have to temporarily close his branch whilst the work takes place at 4-5 Market Parade, High Street, Ewell, KT17 1SL."
The Post Office said that the following two branches in the area could be used as alternatives during the closure, namely:
• Ewell Court Post Office, 179 Kingston Road, Epsom, KT19 0AA
• West Ewell Post Office, 248 Chessington Road, Epsom, KT19 9XF
Samantha Coe, Post Office Area Network Change Manager, apologised for the closure and hoped to minimize disruption for its users.
Ms Coe said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Ewell Post Office, which is beyond our control and we hope that customers will use the nearby alternative branches."
