A male is due to be sentenced after he was charged in connection with nearly 30 offences which spanned across two days in Sutton.

Police said, in the early hours of April 4, officers responded to a 999 call of a male trying the door handles on vehicles.

When they arrived the suspect, who has not been named by the force, was detained and arrested.

It was later discovered he was wanted on 27 other offences of vehicle crime, and officers would secure charges on all of them soon after.

These took place in Birchwood Avenue, Meadow Walk and Wandle Road in February this year.

Wallington North police said: “Due to the numerous offences, and fear of further offending, the male was kept in custody and taken to court on the 5th, where they then remanded him to HMP to await plea or sentencing.

“This was a great result and took weeks of investigation. Thanks to the support of the victims, and members of the public with CCTV, this case is a strong one.”
