A man charged with the murder of a mother-of-four who was stabbed to death during broad daylight in Ewell has appeared in court.
Ricardo Godinho, 41, of Kingston Road, has pleaded not guilty to her murder and possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.
However, he did admit to manslaughter during a pre-trial hearing at the Old Bailey today (March 29).
Godinho has been remanded into custody before he is scheduled to appear at Guildford Crown Court on June 17 for the start of his trial, which is expected to last two weeks.
Aliny Mendes, 39, died at the roadside shortly after police were called on February 8 following reports that a woman had been stabbed at the Sparrow Farm Road junction of London Road.
