Brexit deadlock continued in the Commons last night as MPs rejected all eight indicative votes, with the deadline to exit the European Union looming large.

They failed to find a majority on an alternative Brexit plan amid Prime Minister Theresa May's promise to quit before the next round of negotiations if her deal passes.

The best-supported option was a plan for a second EU referendum on any new deal, getting 268 votes in favour from MPs compared with 295 in opposition - a margin of 27.

And the least-favoured option, asking for a Norway-like model without a customs union, was overwhelmingly voted down - with 377 against compared with 65 in favour.

But the one with the slimmest majority was the one which asked to leave the EU with a UK customs union - with 272 voting it down compared with 264 in favour and a margin of just eight votes.

Now there could be a third attempt at getting Mrs May's deal over the line tomorrow (March 29) in the Commons.
