A LONG established firm of solicitor estate agents is the latest tennants to move into the Galashiels Interchange.

Cullen Kilshaw, who have nine offices across the central Borders, will let the majority of the second floor including the Waverley Chambers.

The prominent Transport Interchange building was constructed in 2015 to coincide with the arrival of the Borders Railway.

And with this latest move is 88 percent full with small to medium sized businesses.

Cullen Kilshaw senior partner David Kilshaw is delighted to create a central hub for his business.

He said: "We are delighted to be moving into the Interchange later this spring.

"As the largest solicitor estate agency in the Borders we have offices extending from Peebles in the west through central Borders across to Jedburgh, Hawick and Kelso.

"This gives us a welcome opportunity to bring together some of our core services in what is a hugely impressive piece of modern architecture.”

Cullen Kilshaw’s move to the Interchange follows a rapid expansion of the practice over the last five years with the number of staff increasing to 45, a wider range of available services and new offices opening up in Selkirk, Hawick, Kelso and Jedburgh.

While the firm will continue to have shop front offices in all of its seven existing town locations across the Borders, it is moving to a hub and spoke model with some of its core staff and support services coming together at the Interchange to share an ideal central location.

The £5.2million Galashiels Transport Interchange was opened in August 2015 and was part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and delivered by Scottish Borders Council's development partner Hub South East Scotland and appointed contractor Morrison Construction.

The facility has tourist information, bus and train real-time information and a railway ticket machine.

There are also showers, Changing Places toilets, bike lockers to promote cycling and walking, and a cafe run by local firm Born in the Borders on the ground floor, with two additional floors of office space.

The offices are let by local company Edwin Thompson.

Commercial partner Simon Sanderson commented: “The Transport Interchange is a prominent building for the Borders, aiding both businesses and visitors alike.

"We’re pleased to have Cullen Kilshaw as new tenants of Waverley Chambers filling the majority of the second floor of the high quality suites.

"This brings occupancy levels at Waverley Chambers up to 88 percent highlighting the strong location and transport links.

"The final unit available is well suited to firms looking to relocate to a modern and contemporary office environment with travel links throughout the Borders and Edinburgh.”
