Kingston Royals Swimming Club are celebrating after storming to success at the recent Surrey County Championships.

The young persons' swimming club qualified an impressive 64 swimmers for the prestigious regional competition's individual events, while additional swimmers took part in the dynamic relays.

Of everyone who competed for Kingston Royals, 12 brought home a record haul of 38 medals (15 Gold, 15 Silver and 8 Bronze) which saw the Club finish in 6th place in the medal table.

In addition to the individual and relay medals, Kingston Royals swimmers also secured the G B Alberry Trophy (fastest Junior swimmer in the 200m Backstroke) and three second place awards in the British Age Group Categories.

In the PARA swimming competition, Kingston Royals were just as successful as their counterparts, with two Gold medals in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly, three Silver medals in the 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly and a Bronze in the 50m Freestyle.

Speaking on the Club's successes, Coach Paul Hurley said that the Club's successes proved how talented the swimmers were and praised their dedication.

Mr Hurley said: "Surrey County Championship swimming is extremely high level. To achieve the number of medals that we came away with is really a testament to the hard work and hours of training that these swimmers have put in."

"You don't just turn up and win a medal, these guys have trained for months and months."

On top of all the silverware won by the club, three new DSISO Americas LC Junior records were also set, Kingston Royals said.

Entry into the Kingston Royals successful Cadet Programme is from 5 years old with beginners classes being held in the teaching pools at The Kingfisher Leisure Centre and The Malden Centre.
