Croydon tram users can expect further disruption over the next month, with maintenance works closing a section of the network.

As part of regular maintenance, over a kilometre of track is to be replaced between Addiscombe Road and Blackhorse Lane.

The work will see ballast, sleepers and nails replaced to improve the safety and ride quality of the line.

Part of the network was closed last month, to enable further work on the Blackhorse Lane bridge, which is undergoing repairs.

Closures will take place on the next five consecutive weekends as follows:

1. From midnight, Friday 15 March to 4am Monday 18 March

2. From midnight Friday 22 March to 4am Monday 25 March

3. From midnight Friday 29 March to 4am Monday 1 April

4. From midnight Friday 5 April to 4am Monday 8 April

5. From midnight Friday 12 April to 4am Monday 15 April

Work will take place from the end tram service each Friday to the start of tram service each Monday with the rest of the tram network operating as normal.

Weekends were chosen to minimise the impact on the busier weekdays with our contractors working 24 hours a day to get it completed.
