A man who allegedly tried to flee from police after ‘abandoning’ his vehicle in Hackbridge has been arrested.
The suspect is currently being held on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police following the incident during the evening of March 11.
One social media user claimed officers were searching for the man after he had allegedly fled from his vehicle and decided to “run on foot”.
The vehicle in question was found “dumped” in Wolseley Road while a police helicopter searched the area.
Scotland Yard said the man was arrested at around 8.22pm after they tried to stop the vehicle he was travelling in, which they believe was using false plates.
No injuries were reported, the force added.
