A Worcester Park mum who has narrated the journey of her daughter since she was born with Down’s syndrome is up for another award.

Liz was announced as a finalist in the “Fresh Voice” category of the Brilliance in Blogging awards (BiB) for 2018 last year.

Her online diary, ‘Coraline and Us’, is described as a lifestyle blog about her young daughter Coraline.

But she’s now in the running for another honour – this time she is in the final four for the wellbeing category of the Bloody Awesome Parents SEND Blog Awards.

It was after Coraline was born that Liz discovered her child had Down’s syndrome as well two holes in her heart.

She said: “Our message is a universal one – of living life with love. I feel so honoured by this, given the incredible lineup of judges who selected the final four from the original 15 nominees in this category.

“To me, it is the highest recognition that the judges listed us in the final four. The fact they selected us [Liz and her husband Kevin] means the world to me, and that they saw and appreciated all the values we are living with, by which I convey through the posts.

“It really boosts my faith in what I’m doing.

“It is because my husband Kevin and I are a team, and because of our attitude together, that I began writing in the first place, and that the blog appealed to the judges. It is also, of course, because of Coraline, who brings joy to everyone she meets.”

The winner of the category will be announced at the BAPS SEND Blog Awards ceremony in Coventry, hosted by Carrie Grant, on May 16.

Voting, which is decided purely on votes, will close on March 18.
