Croydon Islamic Centre has been shortlisted as one of the best mosques in the UK.
The Islam Channel launched the competition after producers Abrar Hussain and Abid Mahi found themselves comparing their local mosques.
Mr Hussain said: "We found an incredible disparity between both the standards and the facilities at these local mosques; some were centres of excellence in everything they did. Others were lagging some way behind.
"We found that there was a great desire within the communities and the members of these mosques to improve standards."
The London Road mosque is now one of eight to be featured in a series of programmes on the Islam Channel - Croydon will be shown this Saturday.
Viewers will then be able to vote for their favourite mosque and the winner will be awarded a £35,000 consultancy prize.
Spokesperson for the Croydon Mosque, Shuaib Yusaf, said: "It is a really great achievement just to be nominated for this award and we are so excited about it."
To vote text VOTE and the name of the mosque you wish to vote for, ie CROYDON, to 60060.
