A taxi passenger was wounded in a drive-by shooting in West Norwood last night (Thursday 28 February).

At around 8pm a taxi driver visited a South London police station, reporting that a male passenger he was carrying had been shot.

It is understood that the driver picked up his fare, driving to Lakeview Road where he stopped for a period.

A car pulled up beside the taxi and shots were fired into the back of the vehicle. The car then fled the scene.

The victim asked the driver to take him to another location, where he left the taxi on foot.

He was later traced by police. His injuries were not deemed life-threatening or life-changing.

No arrests have been made, as detectives from the Met's Trident and Area Crime Command continue to investigate.

News of the shooting appeared on social media at around 7pm, as locals reported hearing multiple shots.

A 16-year-old boy was left in a critical condition after being shot in West Norwood just last month.
