An operational incident at East Croydon earlier today is causing disruption to trains
It will be slow going through East Croydon this evening following an "operational incident."
National Rail were advised that the 4.03pm Gatwick Airport to Bedford Thameslink service had come to a stand in Platform 4 at East Croydon which is causing the delays.
"The term 'operational incident’ encompasses various incidents which can occur on the network," National Rail wrote on its website.
"Train operators try to avoid these occurring as much as possible, but on rare occasions they do occur."
People have been advised to allow extra time if travelling by Southern, Thameslink or Gatwick Express as services travelling through the station may be subject to delays of up to 15 minutes.
